&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; The project is trying to reassemble the image and perception of Semmering through exploring the city with a certain distance via “virtual tourist guide”. The aim is to investigate the realm you can and cannot explore online regarding e.g. Semmering´s landscape, invisible history or contemporary tourism trends.

&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; Maps and tourist guides tend to show only certain layers and histories, pointing in what they do show as much as what they don´t. Without the possibility to visit Semmering in the beginning, the project is trying to reassemble its image focusing on how the touristic product changed during the time and works with the tourist expectations emphasized through elaborated media.

&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; 
	The medium of “online tourist guide” should reflect, and take advantage of, the current situation we are put into as well as the contemporary tourist attitude. Semmering, once a luxury mountain resort, is nowadays a “just a stop” on a journey from Vienna to the south. It used to be a convenient 2-hours trip when you can quite easily escape the polluted city and retreat yourself to a sublime nature but do not abandon your standard of living. The city life of the upper class swung to Semmering — nothing had changed but the scenery of mountains was present. Today´s trip is often reduced to passing by a train without even getting off. What is visible from the train, what is reachable on the internet and what is impossible to approach without getting there (and can I then approach it)?

Another matter of fact inducing the project is that Semmering will not be accessible as it is today anymore. Due to the base tunnel bypassing and relieving the UNESCO South Railway, which is being presently built and will be finished by 2027. The view from the train, a time-saving comfy journey to see the picturesque landscape of Semmering, will be limited.







Will be the virtual guide then even more relevant?
All these inputs were taken into account and shaped the project. The aim is to investigate the carefully chosen path in Semmering and reveal the capabilities of “traveling online?” as well as pointing out possible hidden layers there. The project also provides an opportunity to examine the genre and format of tourist guides itself. All done without the opportunity to visit the Semmering yet. 
Keeping in mind that conventional guidebooks and maps incline to offer a very tendentious version or idea of a given place I am trying to show what is not so easily visible. 
Once the map is finalized I am going to Semmering to confront reality. Together with the blurred postcards, which leave room for your imagination and refrain from giving you this high expectations of a place, the map will be used as a guide and subsequently “exhibited” amid other leaflets and tourist handbooks.




	

 

“Maps have agendas, pointed in what they do show as much as what they don’t. ... I imagine filling in the gaps of these guides with other stories and mundane histories that might otherwise go overlooked.” 2Beginnings of tourism date back in the 18th and 19th century together with our rising health concern and proclaimed beneficial effects of seawater and stays in nature. Rousseau, the french philosopher, advised baths taken in the wild will be also morally uplifting.&#38;nbsp; Advancement of industrial cities caused, beyond excessive pollution, that the labour of majority was bound with particular location and time. Model of 8-hours long shift came into force and the idea of holidays should serve as compensation for hard work. Owners of the factories came to the conclusion that a week of holidays for their workers will assure them better performance till the end of summer. 
“People and nature were objectified, and reduced to commodity status.” 3



Partly as a reaction to rationalising nature, intellectual and artistic movement arose. In Romanticism the answer and solution was “back to nature” as nature was seen as something pure and “a spiritual source of renewal”. The romanticist paintings often illustrate the sublime landscape associated with emotions of greatness, founded on awe. They show the glories of nature and landscape that open up during long walks in the hills and mountains. They depict the wanderer as a stranger in nature, but at the same time as a conqueror of nature. 
Cities expanded to unprecedented sizes, and grew into centres of pollution, poverty and deprivation. Thanks to the advanced possibilities of transportation, the 19th century was a starting point for collective travelling.Semmering had it all, known as a “green-lungs' ' just a stone's throw away from Vienna, visitors would enjoy picturesque scenery as well fresh mountain air. All without abandoning their high standard of living. It was so convenient for the guests that they did not have to climb hills or overcome hany high levels, they were already in mountains enjoying promenades between Grand Hotel Panhans and Sudbahnhotel to the pass as they never left the city. 
Semmering´s past fame and advertisements have surpassed what it could offer nowadays&#38;nbsp; and therefore the tourist expectations are not being fulfilled.

&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; Projekt představuje alternativní návrh administrativní budovy v místě bývalé brněnské textilní továrny Vlněna, kde v současnosti vzniká nový administrativní komplex Vlněna office park pod záštitou CTP. Na stejné parcele  CTP momentálně připravuje jednu z prvních budov v Brně kompletně naplánovanou metodou BIM (Building information management).

Lokalita industriálního areálu se zároveň ukázala jako archeologicky velmi cenná. Kromě základů a pozůstatků zdí z období „moravského Manchesteru“, sahají některé nálezy až do roku 150 př.n.l., kdy v místech Vlněny bylo keltské oppidum.

&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; Na první pohled je zarážející rozdíl v procesech minulého a současného stavění: vykopávky, které v jednotlivých vrstvách dokumentují více jak dva tisíce let stavební historie, jsou v krátkém momentu zmapovány, odstraněny a nahrazeny čistou plochou betonové desky.

Koncepce „tabula rasa“ je v souladu s komerční logikou a efektivitou současného způsobu stavění administrativních budov. Zdá se, že i BIM, jako nový způsob organizace projekční práce a stavebního managementu následuje tuto logiku a je efektivní zejména při plánování více méně standardizovaných kancelářských budov, kde je kladen důraz na efektivitu nákladů, kontrolovatelnost a spolehlivost celého plánovacího a stavebního procesu. Standardizované, průmyslově vyráběné stavení elementy je jednoduché implementovat do knihoven BIM softwaru a uplatnit je, pokud možno, na „standardizované“ parcele. 

V našem projektu se snažíme využít potenciálu BIMu a zároveň nepodlehnout korporátní logice současného stavění.  Vytváříme hybridní strategii, kde schopnost BIM softwaru „parametrizovat“ nevyužíváme pouze pro definici knihoven a bloků staveních prvků, ale pro parametrizování betonových sloupů. Využíváme tak BIM pro převod mezi historií a současností, který se propisuje do stavební struktury našeho návrhu.




	

NÁVRH&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; Výchozím bodem pro nás byly vykopávky nacházející se na parcele I, se kterými pracujeme v kontradikci k principu tabula rasa, který se zdá být ideální pro časově a finančně co možná nejefektivnější navrhování v BIM. V dané archeologické lokalitě se nachází struktury ze dvou po sobě následujících období. Mladší z nich jsou základy v podobě betonových patek z poslední fáze textilní továrny, která zde stála až do roku 2016, kdy byla zdemolována. Starší obnažená struktura sahá do 18. století, kdy zde, ve východní části předměstské čtvrti Náhon, vznikla textilní manufaktura Josefa Biegmanna. Vzhledem k tomu, že objekty nejsou podsklepené a jednotlivé vrstvy se kupí na sebe, jsou jasně čitelné a úroveň terénu se postupně navyšuje.
 Různé vrstvy v našem návrhu reflektují dva konstrukční systémy vycházející ze stávajícího rastru betonových patek a nově vzniklých betonových základů vylitých do archeologických sond a nálezovým jam. Rozměry vykopaných jam, nové základy a na ně nadimenzované železobetonové sloupy předávají informaci o archeologických nálezech napříč celou budovou. Konstrukce vyrůstá nad ruinami zdí z Biegmannovy kotelny a v přeneseném významu je zachovává v klimaticky otevřeném parteru budovy. Pozůstatky zdí jsou zakonzervovány pomocí tenké betonové vrstvy. Podloží se propisuje a formuje celou navrhovanou administrativní budovu. Odlišné konstrukční celky předznamenávají v daných patrech jejich náplň. 

Archeologické nálezy, které nebylo možné z kapacitních důvodů archivovat, nebo byly vybrány a nahrazeny novými administrativními budovami jsou určeny k rozemletí na recyklát. Díky technologii rebetonu, na který má brněnská firma patent, je možné kromě běžnějšího betonového recyklátu zpracovat i cihelný, který se v dané lokalitě nachází, a využít při přípravě betonových směsí. Vrstvy, které nebylo možné zachovat zůstanou na parcele v nové formě.

	&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;&#38;nbsp; Audiovizuální instalace představuje historii a okolnosti provázející výstavbu a otevření brněnského Obchodního domu PRIOR. Sesbírané materiály nám odkrývají logisticky složitou přípravu i samotnou stavbu OD v socialistickém Československu. 

Jedním z hlavních zdrojů, který během VII. pětiletky měl celý proces výstavby pod drobnohledem, je Brněnský Večerník. Jak brněnský PRIOR postupně rostl, sledujeme tedy prizmatem nedočkavého zákazníka, který kriticky hlídá všechny termíny a dodávky. Obdobně nadšeně jako redaktoři Brněnského Večerníku přicházeli s fotografiemi zrodu tohoto fenoménu, instagram @prior_brno se snaží znovu zprostředkovat a zmapovat toto období pomocí současných vizuálních nástrojů. 

Sesbírané materiály jsou výsledkem archivního výzkumu společně s Georgim Dimitrovem v rámci ateliéru Kristek-Sedlák na Fakultě architektury v Brně.&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; 
	&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; The audiovisual installation presents the history and circumstances surrounding the construction and opening of the Brno PRIOR Shopping Centre. The collected materials reveal the logistically complex preparation and construction of the OD in socialist Czechoslovakia. 

One of the main sources that kept a close eye on the entire construction process during the VIIth Five-Year Plan is the Brno Večerník. As the Brno PRIOR grew, we follow it through the prism of an impatient customer who critically monitors all deadlines and deliveries. Similarly enthusiastic as the editors of Brněnský Večerník came up with photographs of the birth of this phenomenon, the instagram @prior_brno tries to re-create and map this period using contemporary visual tools. 

The collected materials are the result of archival research together with Georgi Dimitrov within the Kristek-Sedlák studio at the Faculty of Architecture, BUT.

Dohledové systémy mají preventivní i penalizační charakter a jejich přítomnost je dnes intuitivní a jen málokdy zpochybňována. Foucault popsal, že statistické zpracovávání informací o populaci, a jeho následná aplikace, je už od 19. století neodmyslitelná složka moci v moderním státu. 

Víra, že vystavěné prostředí může chování ovlivňovat, nebo dokonce vědomě konstruovat celou společnost, je architektům vlastní a objevuje se v této profesi v různých mutacích od osvícenství až dodnes. I dnes je prostředí dále navrhováno s cílem usměrňovat lidské chování, zamezit kriminálnímu jednání a selektovat vhodné a nevhodné “uživatele”. Někteří autoři dnes mluví o militarizaci veřejného prostoru v souvislosti s jeho úpravami, které mají zabránit jak "antisociálnímu chování", tak jej i budovy ochránit před potenciálními hrozbami. Obdobně jako jsou selektováni žádoucí a nežádoucí uživatelé, je ve vyčleněných městských prostorách sestavován seznam žádoucích a nežádoucích činností.

Surveillance systems are both preventive and punitive, and their presence is now intuitive and rarely questioned. Foucault described how the statistical processing of information about the population, and its subsequent application, has been an inherent component of power in the modern state since the 19th century. 

The belief that the built environment can influence behaviour, or even consciously construct an entire society, is inherent in architects and appears in the profession in various mutations from the Enlightenment to the present day. Even today, the environment continues to be designed with the aim of regulating human behaviour, preventing criminal behaviour and selecting appropriate and inappropriate 'users'. Today, some authors speak of the militarization of public space in relation to its modification, both to prevent "antisocial behaviour" and to protect it and the buildings from potential threats. Similarly to the selection of desirable and undesirable users, a list of desirable and undesirable activities is drawn up in designated urban spaces.

Právě tyto tři fakulty tvoří největší podíl mladých architektů v českém prostředí. Rozhodly se sjednotit za účelem jednotného vystupování za účelem zajištění kvalitního vzdělávání architektů. Asociace bude vystupovat především prostřednictvím dopisů příslušným orgánů (Ministerstvo školství, Rada vysokých škol, Rada uměleckých výstupů, atd).
